Jesus’ parable of new wine in old wineskins is a story that many of us may be familiar with but also may not fully understand. This week Angie shares her perspective on this story and the tension that can occur when we try to fit our new ideas into an old framework.
Ideas about God, religion, scripture, LGBTQ and on and on can cause us to question the framework we used to believe in or used to associate with. This may be the time to release the old and make space for the new. So for this year, Angie is challenging us to imagine what it would be like if we focused on love and justice. If we were less focused on doctrines and more focused on people…less focused on right beliefs and more focused on following the Way.
“Yearning for a new way will not produce it. Only ending the old way can do that. You cannot hold onto the old all the while declaring that you want something new. The old will defy the new; the old will deny the new; the old will decry the new. There is only one way to bring in the new. You must make room for it.” – Neale Donald Walsch
